Stage one

this is my drawing for stage one, if you look at the animatic you can see that the antagonist enters the building(head) throgh one of the windows making up his mouth.

based on research into stuff like monster house and amityville horror where the objects / components of a building are arranged to resemble a face of eye or something i've come up with this, floor one - the mouth room.

the cubicles around the edge are there as teeth and the meeting room in the middles is supposed to resemble a tongue with the exit being at the back of the mouth like a throat.
hopefully you see a succesfull combination of office room crossed with someones mouth...

sounds.....

i need sound for my animatic.

this is the sound recording process as i understand it....it'd help if people comment this to educate me though.

unfortunatly it'll cost me money (that i don't have) for a mini disk to record the sound onto and i'll need some software installed onto whatever mac i use, sonic stage i think....
....i'll try to get sound for my animatic but i won't be surprised if i cant manage it for the presentation tomorrow.

Today i have learned to plan out more carefully for this kind of business and sort out sound earlier on the process.

i've been gettin up to some drawing recnetly and found out ALL about office supplies...theres so many of them.....just need to figure out whats actually going on with those...

more research....

this more of a reminder to my self ...

i've been looking at the office and less than perfevt on tv for layouts and design, syle ,ect..
its important to think about environments and layout especially if i'm gonna make puzzles.

i need to look into office supplies cos i think it'd be cool if all the puzzles required staplers and in trays an stuff....i'm thinkin of having a 'mole' within the office who leaves you clues on 'post-it' notes.

i've been told to look at jet set willy, atticattack, innerspace, psychonaughts and monster house too, so i've got plenty to sink my pearly whites into.

just as a side note, we were asked to consider time in our ideas, i dont think time's gonna pass in my game unless theres a puzzle that needs to be done within a timer.
has any one played breath of fire: dragon quarter for ps2? you get possesed by a dragon spirit that grants you the strengh to complete the tasks in the game but s slowly taking over you. theres a time limit on the whole game (like 3hrs to complete it in) and the more dragony powers you use the faster the timer counts down!

i dont relly know how far i can push flash but for the actual gameplay i'm thinkin of executing it in a 'top down' style using my own drawings.
i've been looking at old pokemon and zelda games and it seems like a really cool way to carry out things. as you got to the end of one screen the button for the next screen could appear just like on our powerpoint induction piece....

new direction...

for the story i'm gonna go with the business empire building head idea, where the head is the 'isolated' location.
basically the enemy is a whole office building thats a business empire but at the same time its a concious entity. the corrupt business empire is bad mouthing britians momma to all the other nations.
in a valient effort to save face a hero emerges to squelch the incidious rumours by stopping the business empire upside his head.
that hero is 'sam the man' (you)

the quest begins just as sam infiltrates the office building on the bottom floor, as sam you must solve puzzles and overcome all the obsticles to work your way to the brain room on the top floor and destroy the business empire.

New term..


...new project!
an its a good one too.
you dont need me to tell you the brief an the limitations , i'll just tell you the favorites of my initial ideas

1, sam and his opponent is the bussiness empire, a man with a building for a head, once sam has infiltrated the bussiness empires head he must head to the brain to finnish off his enemy.
the head of the bussiness empire acts as an island to contian all the events in.
it'd be a piont and click adventure... in fact, anything i attempt will be point and click... or at least that is that point and click seems to be the simplest way to excicute things...

2, is for a puzzle based game... you play a super hero stuck on a prison island designed by super villians to keep there enemies under control.
you must enlist the abilities of other inmates to escape your predicament.

3, point and click beat em up with limited characters and stages.
...stages wouls be backdrops that arent interactive... i need to keep in mind the island theme for this idea though...

anyways that all of that for now!
